What is Reiki? (pronounced ray-key)

It is a gentle yet powerful Japanese technique of energy healing that helps to relax and balance the body/mind/spirit. The word itself means universal life force energy, which is found in all things. This is a wonderful technique to use for stress reduction, relaxation, and meditation. It is just as easy to use on yourself as it is on others.

What is a session like?

A session is very relaxing. It is done fully clothed, laying on a massage table, a mat on the floor, or it can also be done with the person sitting in a chair. The room is usually quiet or has soft music playing, and often the lights are dimmed to create a relaxing atmosphere.

The practitioner then sends the energy by utilizing various hand positions over the clients body, depending on the clients needs, and to where the healing energies guide them. It is a soft, gentle, touch, and many clients will notice the heat (energy) that will come through the practitioner’s hands. Some practitioners don’t touch the body at all, but rather work through the outer, unseen energy layers of the body.

Each person’s experience is different, and each session can even feel different. It is usually very profound, and always deeply relaxing to the client. Some clients have gotten significant relief from physical problems with just one session. Most sessions last between 45 minutes to an hour.

Some of the areas that I find using the energy to be most helpful in are:

• Creating the deep relaxation, peace, and calm that is conducive to self-healing
• As a connective force to inner guidance
• Balancing the chakras (energy centers of the body)
• Help in transitional times
• Relieve anxiety, negative thoughts
• Relieve headaches, and other physical ailments

Who can learn Reiki?

Anyone can learn it. It is unique in that it cannot be learned by reading or studying, but rather the ability to access the Reiki energy is passed from the teacher to the student. This is done by what is called an attunement. (Attune: to bring into accord, harmony.) It is simply the process of initiating the student with the symbols and energy, which open up the energy channels of the body so that the student will be able to receive and give the healing energy to others. You don’t need to have any special beliefs for it to work. It is not a religion, although it is quite spiritual in nature.

It is easy to learn and easy to use. I use it not only on myself, but on my animals, my car, my computer, my plants… anything! Everything is comprised of energy, so why not give it some healing energy?

My experience is one of profound personal growth. With each class/level that I took, the attunement process helped me to clear out some old issues, and look at life with a slightly different perspective. My take on it is that in order to be a clear channel for passing on the energy, we need to clear our own energy. Even if you have no desire to use it on others, it is a great resource for personal growth and healing. I find it very beneficial to use on myself, and the more I use it, the stronger it is.

Classes

Each class is complete in itself. You will be able to do Reiki effectively on yourself and others with just the Level One Practitioner. If you decide to continue on, the classes do have to be taken in order.

Level One Reiki Practitioner: $400.00

In this Reiki Level One class you will be attuned to the Reiki energy. You will learn various hand positions that may be used, along with in-depth discussion on how to use the healing energy not only in your everyday life, but as a way of helping others. You will be doing sessions with the other students, so you will be competent and feel comfortable with actually using this when you leave the class.

Level Two Reiki Practitioner: $700.00

In this Reiki Level Two class you will learn three symbols: the power or amplifier symbol; the emotional healing symbol; the distance healing symbol; and how and when to use them. You will receive more attunements, to open up to the healing energy even more. You will learn how to send distance healing; and do an exercise in going back and healing an experience from your past.

Level Three Reiki Master $1,000.00

In this Reiki Master class you will be attuned with the Master symbol. This level is for the person who is interested in further personal growth, with the option of being able to teach Reiki to others. You will learn how to do attunements, and receive a handbook of class outlines to use in teaching. You will also learn ways to promote your business, and receive on-going support and guidance.
